Tax Update
Presented by Roz Edwards, CPA, MT and George Schueller, CPA

Roz Edwards, CPA, MT, brings more than 30 years of diverse tax experience to clients. She focuses her practice on providing advisory services to closely held companies and their owners. Her industry experience includes manufacturing, retail, real estate, technology and distribution.

As Director for CBIZ, Roz represents businesses and individuals before the Internal Revenue Service and other governmental agencies. Her diverse tax experience is concentrated in trust, partnership, corporate and individual taxation. Roz provides advisory services to clients in areas such as domestic production deduction, inventory capitalization, tangible personal property regulations, accounting methods, depreciation methods and lives, like kind exchanges, reorganizations, and partnership issues. She also manages client relationships and tax planning, compliance and research.

Her community involvement includes Cascade Capital Corporation Executive Committee - President and Trustee; Leadership Akron Alumni Board - Past President; Leadership Akron - Alumni, Class 23 graduate; CBIZ Women's Advantage Member; and Project Learn Board Member.

George A. Schueller, Manager at CBIZ, focuses his practice on state and local tax (SALT) matters. Prior to joining CBIZ MHM, he spent over 25 years performing and supervising audits, assisting taxpayers, researching, and resolving tax issues for the Ohio Department of Taxation in the Income/Franchise Tax and Personal Property Tax Sections. George has more than 25 years of college teaching experience, including undergraduate accounting and graduate tax classes. He is a frequent lecturer on Ohio tax matters.

George's expertise is in SALT compliance and review services, including multi-state clients with operations throughout the United States, as well as research and planning on various SALT issues, including income, sales and use, and personal property tax matters. He has conducted comprehensive nexus studies for several large multi-state clients, resulting in successful strategies and substantial tax savings for a number of clients. George has also successfully implmeneted Voluntary Disclosure Agreements (VDAs) with a number of states, resulting in full abatement of penalties and limiting the number of prior year tax returns due.

In addition to his CBIZ duties, George is an adjunct professor, Accounting and State and Local Taxes, for The University of Akron.
