Message from the President

Hello from the IMA’s Canton Chapter!

I hope you are all having a great summer! While you are out enjoying vacations and our rainy summer weather your board members are working hard to plan a great slate of speakers which will be starting in September; don’t worry, we’ll fit a few vacations in there too!

We will have a great student night (most likely at a local employer!), our annual tax update, speakers from variety of interesting local businesses, as well as team-building and community service opportunities for all of our members to participate in! If you have ideas for topics/speakers you would like to hear please contact Alex Slabaugh ( or myself (

We look forward to getting to know you better and learning more about how we can meet your professional development goals. To help us achieve this, please feel free to send any ideas or suggestions to myself or any board members that you already know.

Jesse Allison, CPA, President

Career Development:
The Certified Management Accountant Credential

The CMA® credential is your key to greater career potential. Pursue the CMA and demonstrate your mastery of the critical accounting and financial management skills needed on the job today. CMAs earn the credential through work experience, a rigorous two-part exam, and continuing education.

IMA Global Salary Survey

Around the world, salaries of those holding the CMA are higher than those of non-CMAs by at least 25%. CMAs globally earn a median salary 59% higher than non-CMAs and 63% higher total compensation. This provides strong evidence to show employers in every region value the skills possessed by CMAs and are willing to compensate staff with these skills.

The CMA is the globally recognized, advanced-level credential appropriate for accountants and financial professionals in business. Achieving the CMA demonstrates your professional expertise in financial planning, analysis, control, decision support, and professional ethics – skills that are in demand by organizations around the world. Whether you want to enhance the value you bring to your current position, or expand your career potential, the CMA will help you set the standard for professional excellence.

The CMA program lets you proceed at your own pace, allowing you to earn your CMA in 12 months or over the course of three years. The chapter goal is 2 new CMA certifications each year. Let’s make this year your year!
