Canton Chapter is Gearing up for Another Banner Year

Why is a banner important? Is it just an ego trip for the Canton Chapter board? NO, it indicates that the board is doing its best to provide the criteria established by IMA for a quality chapter.

IMA Opportunities Promoted by the Canton Chapter

  • Professional education – chapter meetings, webinars, and IMA learning center
  • Networking with peers in an informal atmosphere
  • Leadership training – improve soft skills as a board member
  • Mentoring – assist others in their professional development
  • Community involvement – contribute to the betterment of the local area

The board does its best to provide opportunities for the members to continue their professional development. It is up to each member to determine if the board is achieving its goal. Ideas for improvement, feedback and volunteers are always welcome. You may contact any member of the board with your input.

The board asks you to actively support the president elect for 2013-2014, Jesse Allison. He is relatively new to the board and is willing to take on this responsibility with assistance. You may become involved by attending meetings, feedback, community involvement and suggestions for speakers.

Keep in touch with IMA and the Canton Chapter.

Dr. Kristine Parsons, associate professor of accounting and chair of the Department of Accounting/Information Systems at Ashland University, has been selected to receive the Ursel K. Albers Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Campus Advocate of the Year Award. The Campus Advocate of the Year Award is given to a professor who has made significant contributions to the IMA overall and the IMA student members in particular. “The IMA is fortunate to have numerous faculty who function as campus advocates,” Parsons said. “It is an honor to be chosen for this award.”

Under Parsons’ leadership, two Ashland University accounting students - Jessica Workinger of Orrville, Ohio, and Grace Bowers of Wadsworth, Ohio – have received scholarships from the Ohio Regional Council of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
